Finding our joy at Resthaven
Moving into our community has been a happy experience for Resthaven on Quarry’s newest residents.
What began as a daunting change has turned into an exciting new chapter for a group of residents who recently joined the Resthaven family and discovered a lovely sense of belonging.
Manager Kate says finding the right place that feels like home can make all the difference. “At Resthaven, we focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere where residents are supported to live everyday their way,” she says.
“We go out of our way to get to know residents individually and provide tailored care that matches their needs, while at the same time helping them to maintain valued connections with family, community and personal interests.”
Resthaven staff support the move with care and empathy. On their first day, new residents are warmly welcomed with a special pack and a personalised settling in tour to the community. After an assessment to determine immediate care needs, they’re invited to join any of the activities or, if they’d prefer, have a meet and greet with a small group of residents.
Within the first week, with input from the new resident, the team also prepares plans to support their spiritual and cultural care, as well as a plan for leisure and lifestyle activities to enhance wellbeing.
From the initial nervousness, we’re hearing how much the residents are enjoying their new home. “I’ve made lots of new friends,” says one. “The staff are wonderful. I needn’t have been nervous about the move at all!” adds another.
Family members are also pleased with how their loved ones have settled in so quickly. “This is the happiest I’ve seen Mum in years,” said one of the resident’s daughters.
